Private Cinema Design for Architects, Interior Designers and Contractors
You design the house. We engineer the one room that has to perform. A private cinema depends on things most project teams never have to specify: wall build-ups, door seals, quiet duct routes, riser heights and sightlines. We take ownership of that room — either as the engineers behind your contractor, or by building it ourselves: isolation and soundproofing, acoustic treatment, the riser, installation and calibration. We work under your project and to your programme, with your client, without stepping on your design.
- Drawings your team can build from.Acoustic, isolation, cabling and HVAC packages, issued as a PDF set and AutoCAD (DWG) files and coordinated with your MEP consultant.
- One owner for the cinema room. The drawings, the coordination between trades, supervision on site and calibration at the end — or the whole room, built turnkey by our own team.
- Your design intent stays intact.Absorption and diffusion can sit behind fabric walls, panelling and joinery, so the cinema looks like the rest of the house. You keep control of the look.
Your contractor builds it, or we do.
- We engineer, your contractor buildsWe issue the drawings and the written performance specification. Your contractor builds the room to them, on their programme, and we supervise each stage, install the equipment and calibrate the room.
- We build the room, turnkeyYour contractor hands us the shell. Our own team builds the isolation and soundproofing, the acoustic treatment and the riser, installs the equipment and calibrates — one team, one programme, one point of responsibility for the room.
Many projects mix the two — for example, your contractor builds the shell and first fix to our drawings, and our team builds the isolation and treatment. We agree the split in the proposal.
Where cinema rooms fail on real projects
The contractor builds the house, and a good one is essential. The AV supplier sells and commissions equipment. But nobody owns the gap between the trades: the wall and ceiling build-up, the door, the duct routing, and the order in which they all happen. That gap is where cinema rooms fail. It's how you end up with a cinema that leaks sound into the bedroom above, air-conditioning you can hear over dialogue, or a screen wall that fights the joinery. Closing that gap is our work.
What we issue to your team
| Deliverable | What it settles |
|---|---|
| Room concept | Rows, seats, riser, screen size and throw, speaker positions, treatment zones, lighting zones, with the design calculations behind them (viewing distances, angles and sightlines) |
| 3D renders | Photo-quality renders of the finished room, so you and your client can review the look before anything is built |
| Acoustic drawings | Absorption, diffusion and low-frequency treatment positions, calculated for the room's geometry |
| Isolation details | Wall, ceiling and floor build-ups, door and seals, and penetrations. The level depends on what surrounds the room |
| Cabling drawings | Containment, cable routes, back-box and equipment positions, power and network points |
| Written performance specification | The room's performance requirements in writing, for your tender and contractor packages |
| HVAC requirements | Quiet-cooling requirements for your MEP consultant: duct routes, air velocity and silencers, coordinated in advance |
Drawings are issued as a PDF set and as AutoCAD (DWG) files, so they drop straight into your drawing set.
Who does what
Shown for the engineer-and-supervise route. On a turnkey build, our team also takes the construction and finishes rows for the cinema room.
| Stage | VIPCinema | Your team |
|---|---|---|
| Concept | Room assessment, seating and sightlines, series recommendation, 3D renders for design review | Architect / designer: plans, sections, reflected ceiling plan and design intent |
| Engineering | Acoustic, isolation and cabling drawings; HVAC requirements | MEP consultant: integrates the cooling requirements into the MEP design |
| Construction | Site supervision against our drawings and sign-offs at each stage — or, turnkey, our team builds the isolation, soundproofing and riser | Contractor: builds the room to our drawings, or hands us the shell for a turnkey build |
| Finishes | Acoustic treatment built by our own team, or by your contractor to our drawings under our supervision, coordinated with the finishes | Interior designer: finishes, fabrics, joinery and lighting design intent |
| Installation and calibration | Equipment installed by our own team, then measured, calibrated and documented; handover to the owner | Final coordination and snagging with the contractor |
Your design intent stays intact
The best acoustic treatment is invisible. Absorption and diffusion can sit behind fabric walls, panelling and joinery, so the cinema looks like the rest of the house and still performs like a cinema. You keep control of the look; we make sure the finishes don't fight the acoustics.
When to bring us in
- At concept or design development:ideal. The room, its proportions and its services are still flexible.
- Before first fix:still ideal for isolation, cooling and cabling, while walls and ceilings are open.
- Mid-build:the best moment to get involved, not the worst, as long as the cinema room is still open.
- After finishes:still possible. We measure first, keep what works, and re-engineer the room around it, but some options will have closed.
Scope and budget for your client
We're brand-agnostic: the room's design decides the equipment, never the margin. Three series set how far each discipline goes: Performance, Reference and Signature. Every room is designed for its space, so the investment depends on size and finish. Your Design Session gives you three real options. After a session we send a room concept, the series that fits, and three investment options, with the cost split into equipment, acoustic and civil work, seating, control and engineering. That makes it easy to present to your client. Payment is staged in three instalments, set out in the proposal before anything is ordered. Compare the series

Frequently asked questions
Do you replace our contractor or AV supplier?
Only if you want us to. Your contractor can build the room to our drawings while we supervise — or our own team can build the cinema room turnkey, from isolation and soundproofing to installation and calibration. Either way, we work to your programme.
What do you need from us to start?
Plans, sections and the reflected ceiling plan for the room, and the design intent if you have it. For a first read, a plan extract or a photo of the room is enough. We can work from your plans online, or visit the site.
Who installs the equipment and the acoustic treatment?
Our own team installs, calibrates and documents the equipment. The isolation, soundproofing and acoustic treatment can be built by our team as well, or by your contractor to our drawings under our supervision — whichever suits the project.
Can you coordinate with our MEP consultant?
Yes. We issue the cinema's cooling requirements (duct routes, air velocity and silencers) and coordinate with the MEP consultant so the room is quiet enough for a cinema.
Do you work across the UAE?
Yes. We design and build in Dubai and Abu Dhabi and install across the UAE.
