A villa in Al Khawaneej: a media room with Dolby Atmos and a sealed window
A media room in a villa in Al Khawaneej, Dubai. The owner had the room, the TV and the plan for the finish. We brought the sound: a Dolby Atmos speaker system, acoustic panels, and a window that had to be closed off.
The room
A finished room with hard walls and a window. Glass reflects sound back into the room and lets it through to the outside, so the window was the first thing to deal with.
What we did
We closed the window with gypsum board and rockwool insulation, finished in stretch fabric. We supplied and installed a Dolby Atmos 5.2.4 speaker system with two 8-inch subwoofers: floor-standing left and right speakers, a centre, two surrounds and four in-ceiling height speakers, driven by a Denon AV receiver. We mounted absorber panels and wave-wood diffusers from our Edge range on the walls.
Who did what
Our scope: the speaker system, the AV receiver, supplying and mounting the acoustic panels, closing the window, and all cabling, installation, and the measuring and tuning of every speaker with the AC running. The owner finished the room with wallpaper, carpet and seating, and chose the TV.
The finished room
Two rows of recliners face the front wall, with the speakers placed around them and the treated walls keeping the room's reflections in check.
